WEST FARGO (KFGO) — Saturday’s snow system dumped nearly a foot of snow across the metro in just a few hours, creating a lot of work for snow plow crews.
West Fargo Public Works Streets Foreman Dan Birnbaum says heavy snowfall slowed work, but crews were able to make progress.
“The heavy snow really didn’t start fall until about 4:30 a.m. in town,” Birnbaum says. ”And when it started, it dumped. We gained anywhere from five to seven inches of snow.”
Birnbaum says crews focused on keeping snow emergency streets cleared, and as the snowfall slowed, their focus shifted to residential streets. He says some plow ridges were up to 5 feet tall, which caused problems for drivers trying to get onto the main streets.
Birnbaum says his employees will work until all city streets are cleared.
“We’re fully staffed through the twenty-four hours to get the whole town cleaned up,” Birnbaum said.
