ELLENDALE, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says two children were not wearing seatbelts and have serious injuries after a crash in Dickey County in southeast North Dakota.
The crash happened just after 6 a.m. on April 1 on Highway 11 in Ellendale.
Marco Esquivel, 35 of Jamestown, was driving a pickup with three passengers when he rear-ended a semi hauling a side-dump trailer.
Esquivel and one of his passengers, 39-year-old Victor Villegas of Jamestown, were not hurt.
The driver of the semi, 58-year-old Richard Jones of Kulm, was also not hurt.
The two children in Esquivel’s vehicle were not properly restrained and were taken by ambulance to a hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Their names are not being released.
The driver of the pickup was cited for following too closely and driving without a license.
The North Dakota State Patrol, Dickey County Sheriff’s Office, Ellendale Fire and Ellendale Ambulance responded to the scene.
