Nicolas Wika (Cass County Jail)
FARGO (KFGO) – A judge has sentenced a West Fargo man to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years for sexually abusing a young girl.
Nicolas Wika, 31, was convicted by a jury in Fargo last December. Police were notified of suspected sexual abuse after the victim told an adult that she was afraid to be in the same room as Wika. He was arrested last July.
West Fargo police worked with the Red River Child Advocacy Center during the investigation.
Wika’s lawyer recommended 20 years in prison with 15 years suspended, meaning he would spend five years in state prison.
Cass County District Judge Wade Webb imposed the life term and ordered that he have no contact with the victim while in prison and following his release. After his release, Wika would be required to register as a sex offender.
Wika’s criminal history goes back more than a decade with charges that included shoplifting, false reports to law enforcement, driving under suspension, theft, harassment, and domestic assault.
