'No Kings' rally in Fargo on March 28, 2026
FARGO (KFGO) – Hundreds of people turned out for the ‘No Kings’ rally in Fargo on Saturday. Participants held signs and chanted about topics that are of concern to them, including the war in Iran, immigration raids, and everyday experiences like the price of gas and groceries.
Warren Retzlaff says he attended the protest to make his voice heard.
“I just can’t stand back and watch it happen, I have to participate and show my displeasure and try and change the course of government,“ Retzlaff told KFGO News.
Retzlaff says people need to stray from voting solely Republican or Democrat, and make decisions based off of topics that matter to them.
“I’m just disillusioned by how everybody’s following Donald Trump on everything that’s going on. Everything he wants to do, it seems like a lot of the Republicans have gotten behind him and I don’t know in the past if they would have. Somehow he’s gotten control of people that people aren’t making good decisions on how the government should be run. I’ve voted for lots of republicans in the past, I’ve voted for lots of democrats in the past, but when I see the republican party following behind everything that Donald Trump wants to do, I just can’t support that anymore and I just can’t stand back and watch it happen, I have to participate and show my displeasure and try and change the course of government.”
Retzlaff says one topic that stands out to him is the 2020 election.
“For five years he’s been pushing that the 2020 election was wrong and if he’s willing to lie about that and people support him, it’s just wrong.”

Protesters gathered at Churchill Field on the NDSU campus, and also lined University Drive, where people driving by honked to show support.
Fargo mayoral candidate Josh Boschee was at Saturday’s rally.
“Certainly knew there’d be a lot of people out here having an opinion about our federal government currently, so I wanted to connect with folks, especially as I run for mayor, and hear what issues are important to them locally.”
Boschee says he spent the afternoon talking with attendees about why they came to the protest.
“Folks are really concerned about public safety, want to make sure that they continue to have their rights in terms of being able to have their voice be heard, their protest, but at the same time making sure that law enforcement is protecting them as part of that.”
Boschee says he talked with people from all across the Red River Valley.
“People are from all over, I just talked to someone from Sargent County. It’s not just Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead folks, it’s people from all over and that’s just truly a testimony of people want their elected representatives to stand up for them. And especially our current representatives, they can agree with the president most of the time, but people want them to stand up and be independent for North Dakota, too. It’s not a partisan thing, it’s about what’s best for our state.”
