ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – A bill in the Minnesota Senate would raise the maximum price of a meat-raffle ticket from $2 dollars to five and increase the top prize value from $70 dollars to $200. Those limits haven’t changed in over 30 years.
Amanda Jackson with the Spring Lake Park Lions Club told lawmakers by allowing slightly higher ticket prices and prize limits, they can bring back thicker cuts of steak and larger packs of ground beef as prizes.
Supporters say rising meat costs and inflation have made it harder for charities and local bars to put together an appealing meat package for raffles.
