LITTLE FALLS, Minn. – Minnesota Farmers Union is sponsoring a People’s Town Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon April 8 at Great River Regional Library, 108 NE 3rd St., Little Falls, to hear from members and other interested community members. The event is free and open to the public.
“Across the state, Minnesotans are coping with challenges and managing uncertainty. Grocery prices keep rising while the prices paid to farmers are stagnant or falling, and some farmers are struggling to get financing to plant a crop this spring. Health care premiums jumped again in the new year, forcing some people to go without health insurance because they can’t afford to pay the premium. At the same time, it’s getting harder just to access healthcare with clinic closures happening across the state. And now some families are afraid to leave their home to go to work or even school,” said MFU President Gary Wertish.
“We want to hear directly from MFU members and others on how elected officials at the state and federal level can help them meet their needs and build strong rural communities.”
Meetings are being planned for numerous locations around the state. See mfu.org/events for more information. Pre-registration is requested at bit.ly/PeoplesTownHall.
Minnesota Farmers Union is a nonprofit membership-based organization. Membership is open to everyone.
