RAPID CITY, S.D. (KFGO) – Evacuations are underway near Rapid City, South Dakota as firefighters battle a wildfire.
Rapid City Fire Department says around two dozen structures are threatened.
The fire is estimated at 200 acres and remains very active.
Firefighters from federal, state, and local agencies are on scene with multiple engines, dozers and aircraft.
If safe, a law enforcement escort will be provided to retrieve livestock to be sheltered at Central States Fairgrounds.
Another wildfire in the Black Hills is burning 2 miles southeast of Custer. As of Wednesday night, it was more than 9,000 acres in size with just 27% containment.
About 350 fire personnel are helping fight that fire.
