BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) — A Burleigh County judge has allowed Faith Shields another change of attorney, meaning another delay in her trial for felony theft of property.
Shields has hired Thomas Dickson to represent her.
The Fargo woman’s trial was supposed to begin in January and then April. It is now set to start on June 9.
Shields is accused of moving thousands of dollars of state COVID-19 grant money from her charity, Faith4Hope, to personal and family accounts.
Her now ex-husband, Charles Dixon, is listed as a witness for the prosecution. Charles Dixon previously pleaded guilty to one count of theft of property while another count was dropped.
The judge sentenced him to probation and $35,000 in restitution.
Shields’ case is being tried in Burleigh County since the alleged fraud involved the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction in Bismarck.
