RED WING, Minn. (KFGO) – A sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized after his parked squad vehicle was struck by a car on Saturday afternoon in southern Minnesota.
The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy was parked on the shoulder of Highway 52 near Pine Island. The deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The state patrol says the deputy is a 29-year-old from Kenyon.
The driver of the car that struck the squad, a 31-year-old man from Rochester, suffered life-threatening injuries and may have been drinking prior to the collision.
