Angela Lipps contributed/GoFundMe
FARGO (KFGO) – A West Fargo man helped set up a fundraising for Angela Lipps, a 50-year-old grandmother from Tennessee who was charged in a bank fraud investigation in Fargo and held in jails for months.
Lipps was arrested last July in Tennessee and was eventually transferred to the Cass County Jail.
She was released on Christmas Eve after the charges against her were dismissed. She was identified as a possible suspect through surveillance video and images using artificial intelligence.
F5 Project CEO Adam Martin eventually drove Lipps to Chicago where she was met by her boyfriend and was able to make it back to Tennessee. Lipps says while she was in jail, she lost nearly everything. She says her family put her personal belongings into storage, but couldn’t pay the fees. She also lost her car and home.
Michael Nessa says he felt compelled to help and worked to establish a GoFundMe where people can donate to Lipps. The original goal of $20,000 was met by Monday morning, March 16.
