JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) – A woman assaulted a Jamestown Police officer who was doing a welfare check on her Wednesday.
The department says the officer responded to 21-year-old Emily Sather’s apartment and knocked on her door. Chief Scott Edinger says Sather opened the door and without saying a word, lunged at the officer and punched them in the face at least twice.
After a short struggle, the officer was able to detain Sather using a taser and handcuffs.
Sather was taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center by ambulance and then booked into the North Dakota State Hospital. Edinger says officers have responded to Sather’s apartment 14 times in the past five months.
The officer who was assaulted was treated for cuts and bruises at the hospital.
