ST. PAUL, Minn. – A proposal that would allow for electronic driver’s licenses or ID cards failed to get out of a Minnesota House committee Monday.
The Transportation Committee discussed the bill and heard a couple of amendments before the bill failed to get the necessary votes.
The bill, authored by Democratic Rep. Brad Tabke of Shakopee, would authorize the Department of Public Safety to implement the electronic versions and be in charge of setting the rules.
Tabke says 14 other states have this system already in place.
