Norma Stende-Gromaski, age 76, of Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Korsmo Funeral Service in Moorhead, MN with Pastor Jacob Peterson officiating. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 9 am on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Fargo National Cemetery.
Norma Frances Klein was born on July 2, 1949, to Reuben Elmer and Anna M. (Bontrager) Klein in Valley City, ND. She grew up in Valley City, where she stayed through high school. Following graduation, Norma moved to Fargo to attend Interstate Business College, where she received a two-year degree in business administration.
She married John Stende and had two sons, John and Don. They later divorced. She had a lifelong career at Warner and Company Insurance in Fargo, where she dedicated 42 years. She retired as Vice-President/Key Account Manager. During her career she belonged to several professional organizations, including the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW), where she served as the local president.
She would meet the love of her life, George Gromaski, through their shared love of bingo. They would be partners for 31 years, tying the knot in July of 2014. Together they would establish their home first in Georgetown, MN and later in south Moorhead, MN.
Norma and George loved to travel, and their adventures always included playing bingo along the way. They were also fervent fans of Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks baseball and attended games as often as they could. Norma also enjoyed oldies music, especially Elvis Presley, and collecting anything Tweety Bird.
Norma is survived by two children, John (Jodi) Stende, West Fargo, ND, and Don (Elizabeth Thompson) Stende, Shoreview, MN; grandchildren, Rebekah Stende, John Alex Stende, and Arie (Will) Bell; sister Sandy (Bruce) Adam, Horace, ND; brother-in -law Jerald Knudson, Walla Walla, WA; four step-children: Anne (Jim) Weiss, Circle Pines, MN, Paul Gromaski, Valley City, ND, Julie (Mike) Dwyer, Thornton, CO, and Stephanie Gromaski, Clearwater, FL; five step-grandchildren: Kelsey Rapopport, Erika (Jessie) Vega, Dana Gromaski, Nicholas (Amanda) Dwyer, and Erin (Dustin) Brewer; and seven step great-grandchildren: Mycah Rapopport, Aidin Rapopport, Ally Gromaski, Ashlee Pino, Ethan Pino, Caleb Dwyer, Norah Brewer, and Sophie Brewer.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband George in November of 2025; brother Randy Klein; and sister Doris Knudson.
