FARGO (KFGO) – The Fargo Police Department has identified the man who died after being rescued from the Red River on Monday.
The deceased individual was Trevor Stephens, a 39-year-old Fargo resident.
Fargo Police Lieutenant Matt Siders says Stephens was seen walking on the ice near the Main Avenue bridge before witnesses watched him fall into the river around 2:30 p.m.
Moorhead and Fargo Fire Departments responded and Stephens was recovered from the river shortly after 3:30 p.m. He was taken to a Fargo hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
Emergency responders used a Zodiac boat, which can travel on the ice and in the water.
This incident is still under investigation.
