MINOT, N.D. (KFGO) – A driver has a suspended license after the North Dakota Highway Patrol clocked them going 150 miles per hour.
The car was stopped on U.S. Highway 83 on Sunday, March 1, for traveling 150 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone north of Minot.
“Driving at this speed puts not only the driver at risk, but every other motorist on the roadway. Excessive speed significantly increases stopping distance, crash severity, and the likelihood of fatal outcomes,” the NDHP said.
The driver was cited for speeding. The Highway Patrol says the fine was $420 and 15 points on their North Dakota driver’s license.
A driver’s license suspension in North Dakota occurs when a driver accumulates 12 or more points on their driving record. Their driving privileges are suspended for 7 days of each point over 11.
