What’s happened to Doug Burgum? When he was Governor of North Dakota, he often was seen as an Independent. I think he ticked-off just as many Republicans as Democrats. He came to the office through the primary election with a boat-load of money, so he didn’t owe anyone.
So I’ll ask it again, what do you think happened to him? I realize he joined the MAGA team (and that’s after saying on Meet The Press he’d never do business with Donald Trump). What shocks me the most is that I never thought he would be subservient to any one man.
I’m not trying to pretend he was a good Governor. He thought everyone should work from home, hired more from out-state, and left the Department of Human Services in shambles. Most importantly, his employees didn’t trust him.
But with all of that said, the Doug Burgum that I knew never would’ve taken away the remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He never would have pulled down the history of slavery in this country.
Maybe I was just naive. Maybe I forgot the Doug I knew was always an opportunist. Maybe I didn’t realize through the tears that he really didn’t care.
Good riding with you,
Joel
