Richard Arruda and family dog
LAKE CITY, Minn. (KFGO) – A man who died in a house fire in Lake City southeast of the Twin Cities over the weekend has been identified.
Firefighters responded to the home shortly before 7 Sunday morning.
Two people were trapped inside of the multi-family residence. The fire chief says firefighters rushed into the home where they found a girl on the second floor as the roof collapsed. She was rescued through an upstairs window. Her family says she is recovering well in a burn unit.
The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner identified the man as 45-year-old Richard “RJ” Arruda, the father of the girl. The family dog also died in the fire.
The cause of the blaze is underway investigation.
