FARGO (KFGO) — A survey shows shows Fargo citizens view the police department in a positive light.
The survey, conducted by the company Zencity, reports 80% of respondents said they feel safe or mostly safe in the city. However, 64% said there are areas of the city where they do not feel safe.
About 40% said police do not have enough resources to deal with mental health issues in the city. Chief Dave Zibolski says his department has put time trying to help solve those problems.
“We researched this, there’s no golden egg out there,” Zibolski said. “But what we do need is some more significant backend services. We have people with chronic issues. We do not have facilities or services for those people, and our folks are constantly in contact with them, and that constantly causes fear and disruption in the community.”
Drug use and traffic safety were the main concern of respondents. 11% of respondents said the city has a homelessness problem.
