News conference on Jan. 30, 2026 announcing new Essentia Health clinic at 730 Center Ave. in Moorhead, Minn.
MOORHEAD (KFGO) – As the City of Moorhead works to revitalize its downtown, a large vacant building is getting new life. Essentia Health announced on Jan. 30 it’s remodeling the former Wells Fargo bank building located at 730 Center Avenue.
Essentia Health West Market President Dr. Stefanie Gefroh says the new family medicine and walk-in clinic is an investment in long-term health care, with the opportunity to expand in the future.
“As this community grows and more people choose to raise their families here, we know that there’s an increasing need for expanded primary care services,” Gefroh said. “This space will allow us to explore opportunities to continue to expand services based on the evolving needs of the community as well.”
The first phase of the project will include building an 8,100-square-foot family medicine clinic, including 10 exam rooms, one procedural room and laboratory and radiology services.
President and CEO of Downtown Moorhead, Inc., Matt Leiseth, says access to health care is the cornerstone of any thriving community.

“This is just a huge day for downtown Moorhead and everyone who believes in our future,” said Leiseth. “This new clinic isn’t just a healthcare facility, by transforming a landmark building and giving it new purpose, Essentia Health is helping Moorhead create a downtown that is dynamic, connected and full of life. Having Essentia right here in the heart of downtown means we’re building a place where we can live, work and access essential services all within a walkable distance.”
Essentia currently operates a walk-in clinic in downtown Moorhead and a family medicine clinic on Highway 75 south of Interstate-94. The new downtown clinic will include primary and walk-in care.
At this time, Essentia Health doesn’t have plans to change operations at the two other Moorhead clinics.
Renovations will begin later this year, with the goal of seeing the first patient by the summer of 2027.
The announcement follows the healthcare provider’s investment in downtown Moorhead through the Essentia Health Walking Loop inside of the new community center and public library, and sponsorship of a riverfront trail.
