ChongLy Scott Thao being brought out of his home by ICE agents. (contributed)
COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minn. (KFGO) — Neighbors were recording when ICE agents raided the home belonging to a Hmong family in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. They brought out a grandfather – a U.S. Citizen – into the frigid air wearing underwear, a blanket and a pair of sandals.
A relative says ChongLy Scott Thao, with no criminal record, was taken out by armed ICE agents who broke down the door without a valid warrant, “pointed guns at the family,” and handcuffed the grandfather in front of his 5-year-old grandson.
After fingerprinting and running his information, ICE confirmed Thao is a legal citizen. He was dropped off back at home.
The Hmong American Experience reported another detainment in St. Paul, in which a Hmong father-of-three was arrested by agents who showed no warrant while his children were home.
The organization says that man was in the process of obtaining his green card.
