Sen. Kathy Hogan (D-Fargo)
FARGO – Senate Minority Leader Kathy Hogan announced Thursday that she will retire from the at the end of November.
After retiring from 40 years of public human service work, Senator Hogan was first appointed to represent District 21 to the House in 2009 and was elected in 2010. She served in the House from 2009 through 2018. She served on many different committees. In 2018, she was elected to the Senate and served on the Senate Human Service Committee as well as Agriculture, Transportation and numerous interim committees. She was elected Caucus Leader in 2021 and served as Minority Leader from 2023-2026.
“When I first became involved in District 21 in the winter of 1972, I could not have imagined the rich legacy this party would offer to me and our family. Despite many boundary changes, District 21 is still the heart of Fargo and West Fargo,” said Hogan, “It is a rich kaleidoscope of neighborhoods, schools, churches, businesses, and parks. It is the home to some of the most vulnerable citizens in our state whom we have nurtured and supported for decades. It is a diverse group of good people living and working together by living and learning continuously.”
Republican Governor Kelly Armstrong, on KFGO News and Views, said he considers Hogan a dear friend and he enjoyed working with her.
Hogan is also a former Cass County Social Services Director.
