NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. (KFGO) – A three-year-old boy is dead after a dog attack west of New York Mills, Minnesota.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says the boy was severely injured Sunday afternoon when he entered an outside enclosure where the dog was kept.
The toddler’s 51-year-old grandmother suffered serious injuries when she tried to stop the attack. She called 911 as she was driving to the Perham Health emergency room where deputies met the woman and the boy.
The three-year-old died at the hospital. The grandmother was transferred to a Fargo hospital to be treated for her injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office says the dog is an adult American Bulldog. Officials say the dog was destroyed and there is no ongoing safety concern.
