FARGO (KFGO) – A missing person’s investigation into the disappearance of a West Fargo woman is now a criminal investigation.
Isadora Wengel. 24, was last seen on December 31.
Fargo police joined the investigation late last week at the request of West Fargo police. That led to the search of an apartment in the 4400 block of Calico Drive in Fargo last Friday night and then to the Fargo Landfill over the weekend.
“Collectively, this has been a partnership type of investigation, it started with the initial missing person report to West Fargo PD on January 7th. On January 8th, we became involved in the investigation with them as the investigation led them to an apartment in south Fargo, a search warrant was conduced at the location,” said Fargo Police chief Dave Zibolski at a brief Monday afternoon news conference.
A person who was detained at the apartment was later released.
While not giving any details, Zibolski said there are “large” concerns that a crime was committed in the disappearance.
He’s asking anyone with information on Wengel’s disappearance to contact police through Red River Regional Dispatch at 701-451-7660
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the case. Police do not believe there is any threat to the public.
