DULUTH, Minn. (KFGO) – A Duluth man is facing charges after allegedly shooting and killing a moose while deer hunting in northeastern Minnesota.
According to a criminal complaint, 37-year-old Dane Nelson admitted to shooting the animal, believing it was a deer.
Moose have been classified as a species of special concern for several years, and hunting them has been prohibited in Minnesota since 2012.
Nelson has been charged by summons and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Feb. 22.
