WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – Four people are displaced after a house fire in Wahpeton over the weekend. The Wahpeton Fire Department was called around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 to 1801 4th Street North.
When firefighters arrived, they could see flames coming from the home. Emergency Manager Brett Lambrecht says firefighters, ambulance crews and Wahpeton Police were on scene for about two-and-a-half hours.
Lambrecht contacted the American Red Cross to help the four people find a temporary place to stay.
No one was hurt but two cats died in the fire. The house is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but fire officials are reminding people to be extra cautious with space heaters during the cold winter months. Click here for space heater safety tips.
