Mark Friese/Vogel Law Firm
FARGO (KFGO) – A Fargo lawyer says he’ll ask to be considered for the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Mark Friese is a criminal defense attorney with the Vogel Law Firm and a former Bismarck police officer. Friese would like to replace Justice Daniel Crothers, who has been on the court for about 20 years and recently announced his retirement. Crothers’ term 10-year term expires in 2032.
Friese, in a statement to KFGO News, said he’s humbled by the urging of friends and colleagues to seek nomination and he looks forward to participating in the application process. He said he’s hopeful the nomination committee will conclude that his background and experiences qualify him for the governor’s consideration.
Governor Kelly Armstrong will be able to appoint a replacement for Crothers from a list of candidates.
A six-member judicial nominating committee will review the applications.
