ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry has recovered more than $160,000 dollars in a settlement with R.D. Offutt Company Farms for employee sick time and recruitment violations.
The department says Offutt, based in Moorhead, will pay over $82,000 for earned sick and safe time (ESST) and more than $80,000 dollars in penalties for failing to provide employee statements to 101 migrant agricultural workers. The department says the money will go to the employees.
the investigation found that employees were not able to use the ESST benefit during the state’s audit period between January and the end December, 31 2024.
