Tyler Axness interviews Rep. Heather Keeler (D-Moorhead) Nov. 13, 2025
MOORHEAD (KFGO) — State Rep. Heather Keeler is running for Congress in Minnesota’s 7th District. Keeler has represented Moorhead in the Minnesota House for the past five years.
The democrat will seek the nomination to challenge republican Rep. Michelle Fischbach next November.
Keeler emphasized the need for a representative with lived experience who understands the challenges facing western Minnesota.
“My personal, professional, and political experiences have taught me to stand up for the neighbors who need it the most, while working to find slivers of commonality across the aisle to do the good work for all of us,” Keeler said. “We need a representative in CD-7 who has lived experience and a proven track record of getting things done for greater Minnesota.”
“If we’re talking about your food, or your healthcare, or the really really basic needs that we have to have In life. And I do a lot of work around access to mental health, and the thing I worry about is, you know we talk a lot in the legislature when we make a decision, what’s the unintended consequences her. And I think we’re going to see just a mass fallout when it comes to our mental health and the supports we see there.” Keeler said on KFGO’s Afternoons Live with Tyler Axness. “My dad was a veteran, and I grew up watching him have to travel long distances just to get very basic care all the way to the end of his life when he was receiving chemo.”
Erik Osberg of Wadena is also in the race as a democrat. Fischbach was first elected in 2020.
