Friday night in Kindred the Devils Lake Firebirds upset the Vikings 28-27 in overtime to advance to the Dakota Bowl for the first time in 15 years.
The Firebirds led 14-0 before Kindred rallied to tie it late. Mason Palmer’s overtime touchdown pass to Bryar Exner proved decisive after Kindred’s extra point to extend the game sailed wide.

ALEXANDRIA — Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton continued its playoff run with a 28-7 victory over Pierz.
BRAINERD — Barnesville’s playoff run ended with a 40-24 defeat to Holdingford in the Class 2A quarterfinals.
Connor Klemin and Major Ness each scored early touchdowns, but the Huskers finished on a 27-8 run to pull away. Holdingford moves on to the state semifinals Nov. 14.
MORRIS — Breckenridge remained unbeaten with a commanding 57-14 win over Barnum.
David Erlandson’s 46-yard run and an onside kick touchdown by Avery Smith helped the Cowboys build a 21-0 lead. Breckenridge faces Murray County Central next Saturday at 9 a.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium.
BECKER — Mahonomen/Waubun advanced to the state semifinals with a 17-8 win over Upsala-Swanville.
Quarterback Blake McMullen opened the scoring on a trick-play touchdown catch, and Tanner Stack sealed the win with a 58-yard run. The Thunderbirds face Minneota next Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium.
