MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO/WCCO) – Police say a man in his 40s was reportedly shot in the torso while confronting a suspected car thief outside his place of work in south Minneapolis. Officers responded to the scene just before 7:00 a.m. Thursday. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara says the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
“During that struggle, the victim was shot,” O’Hara said. “About 20 minutes later, the victim was found by a coworker who then called 911.”
There are currently no suspects in custody, and police are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and urging the public to come forward with any information.
“It appears he was here at the start of his shift, and he may have gone into the parking lot for for whatever reason, but then discovered, you know, someone who is not typically here,” noted O’Hara.
