ROSEAU, Minn. (KFGO KVRR) – A northern Minnesota couple has been charged in the accidental shooting death of their son.
Ted and Danielle Stewart of Roosevelt are set to appear in Roseau County District Court early next month on charges of negligent storage of firearms.
According to court documents, on September 4, eight-year-old McGregor Stewart was playing with a brother after their father left for work. They took out a 22-caliber rifle and as they laid it on their parents bed, it went off and a bullet hit McGregor in the neck.
During the investigation, deputies removed 14 rifles and pistols from the bedroom, many of which were loaded. They also found 13 guns in a bedroom closet and another seven weapons in a hallway, living room and coat closet.
