FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo’s new, colorful water tower at 7th Ave. and 11th Street North has won a national competition sponsored by a protective coatings company.
The tower has been named “Tank of the Year” by the company. The annual competition recognizes the most innovative and creative water tank projects across the U.S. and Canada.
The city says Fargo’s winning tank stood tall among more than 300 nominations from across North America saying it’s a reflection of community pride and artistic vision and captured the attention of contest judges and voters.
“This accomplishment was made possible by an outstanding collaboration of artists, designers, painters, engineers, builders, City staff and community members whose hard work turned this vision into reality,” said Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney. “Each person’s contribution helped shape what is now an iconic part of Fargo’s skyline.”
It was designed by the Fargo Arts and Culture Commission. The tower holds 2.5 million gallons and is the largest in North Dakota.
