First off, let me congratulate the Trump Administration for the results so far with the war in Gaza. I’m not sure that I should reference it as a war, when really what it had turned into was the destruction of Gaza. But the remaining Israeli hostages are returning home to their families, and the remains of those that never will might be as well.
I’m not sure Donald Trump, or anyone else, can deliver lasting peace in the Middle East. But for now, the world is a better place.
On another front, we still haven’t sold one bean to China. Trump’s promise to deliver a deal for America and its farmers has fallen flat. President Xi has rejected any offers to end this war that Trump has made. While this war might be about trade, it does impact us directly. The reaction Trump took to China’s message was swift and aggressive. Taking tariffs to 100% not only cripples agriculture trade, but every other type as well.
Again, I ask why? What was so bad about our relationship with China that we needed this trade war? Some might even call it another Cold War. Were they selling and were we buying, or were we selling and they were buying? Were we getting a higher price for our product than we are now? You know the answers.
If you ask the Administration, they would say it’s about manufacturing. They want America manufacturing what China is doing for us now. The problem with that is, we don’t have anyone that wants to stand in a plant all day and make baseball caps. Hell, with the way ICE is treating our workers, we won’t even find someone to shingle a roof.
This war is about technology. It’s about China stealing the type of programming that the richest of the rich here in America should have protected. They’re ticked that some of our products can be copied so easily. And as far as I’m concerned, it’s their job to protect it in the first place.
Good riding with you,
Joel
