GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – A 76-year-old Grand Forks man is dead after his vehicle was hit by a train Saturday night.
The Highway Patrol says the man was driving an SUV that became high-centered on the railroad tracks in the 1600 block of 17th Avenue Northeast about three miles west of Grand Forks. While the SUV was stuck on the tracks, the BNSF train struck it and then dragged it about 60 feet.
The man was not wearing a seatbelt. He died at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
