Andrew Mattson (Walsh County Jail)
GRAFTON, N.D. (KFGO) – A St.Thomas man charged with assaulting a Walsh County deputy sheriff on Tuesday remains in jail.
Andrew Mattson, 39, was charged with five felony charges, including domestic violence, aggravated assault, terrorizing, and assault on a peace officer. Mattson’s bond is set at $50,000, payable in cash only.
Authorities responded to a report of a man lying in the middle of traffic, jumping toward traffic, and attacking people on U.S. Highway 81 near Minto. A deputy ordered Mattson to stop several times, but Mattson ran toward the deputy who attempted to deploy his taser, and Mattson then attacked him.
Mattson was eventually taken into custody and jailed in Grafton.
