A man with a wife and two little kids was recently shot and killed on a college campus in Utah. He was shot with a bolt-action rifle, less than two hundred yards away. That’s a distance that any of us that have shot a rifle know isn’t that far. I mention that only because those of you that don’t understand weapons will realize that the debate about certain guns doesn’t apply here.
The man shot in Utah at a campus event, was Charlie Kirk. Charlie made a name for himself by speaking to and visiting with high school and college students about conservative viewpoints, and it worked. More and more of these events took place and were attended mostly by College Republicans. Republican candidates counted on him for votes, including Donald Trump in his 2024 election.
The same day Charlie Kirk’s life was taken, there were also two more kids shot at a school in Denver, Colorado. They were shot and wounded by a man that in the end, took his own life. How much did you see that event discussed?
I write that not to take away the horror of Kirk being shot, but to show where we are as a society. One more group of innocent children that woke up that day and went to school that never went home at the end of it. The problem America has is that a week later, those kids aren’t even part of the conversation.
There’s a lot of people trying to control the conversation about Kirk. Some want to define the killer as being from the left, and others saying he’s from the right. To me, none of that really matters. Charlie Kirk is dead because someone shot and killed him as political violence continues to rise. The question now is, what are we going to do about it?
Good riding with you,
Joel
