Terry Steinwand (Burleigh Morton Detention Center)
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – The former director of North Dakota Game and Fish has been arrested for sexual misconduct.
Terry Steinwand, 71, was arrested on a charge of gross sexual imposition with a victim under the age of 15. The charge is a felony. A criminal complaint has yet to be filed which would detail the charge. Steinwand was arrested Friday afternoon by Mandan police and taken to the Burleigh Morton Detention Center. He has not made a court appearance.
Steinwand retired in July of 2021 after spending about 40 years with the agency.
He was first appointed Game and Fish director by then-Governor John Hoeven in 2006. Steinwand began his career with Game and Fish in 1982 as a fisheries biologist.
