Former Cass County Correctional Deputy Andrew Robinson.
FARGO (KFGO) – Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner has fired a deputy after a criminal investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and an internal investigation by the department.
Jahner had placed former correctional deputy Andrew Robinson on administrative leave after an alleged assault on an inmate late last month. Jahner asked the BCI to investigate the allegations, and the bureau forwarded its findings to the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.
Jahner says that not only were Robinson’s alleged actions criminal in nature, they do not follow the mission, vision, values, training or policy and procedures of his department.
“Our citizens expect our office to be transparent, professional at all times, and accountable for our actions, something we work hard to achieve every day as we go out and serve our community,” Jahner said. “Deputy Robinson’s actions did not align with our expectations in this circumstance, and therefore, his employment with our Office has been terminated. I want to thank the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation for their thorough and professional investigation into this incident.”
