Weekly CO report
District 1 – Baudette area

CO Tony Hams (Warroad North) spent the week checking area anglers, monitoring ATV traffic and following up with various complaints. Violations encountered were no license in possession, no life jackets, and overlimit (walleye).
CO Coby Fontes (Warroad South) spent the week patrolling Lake of the Woods. Enforcement action was taken for no angling license in possession and children under 10 without life jackets worn.
CO Nicholas Prachar (Baudette West) reports increased activity in the Beltrami Island State Forest as bear baiting season begins. Time was spent working big game, angling, and recreational vehicle activity. Enforcement action was taken for operating an OHM on the public road right of way, angling after license revocation, operating watercraft after hours with no navigation lights, and boating while intoxicated.
CO Paul Kennedy (Baudette East) worked ATV and angling activity throughout the week. He assisted with a report of an injured pelican. Time was spent checking bear baits in the area. He also assisted local agencies with calls for service. Enforcement action for the week included various watercraft safety violations and improper use of a dealer registered watercraft.
CO Bobby Stringer (Thief River Falls West) reports an active week as bear baiting has officially started. Overall, off to a good start; however, several baiting violations have been observed and noted. Stringer wants to remind bear hunters that destruction within WMAs while establishing bear baits is unnecessary and will always warrant enforcement action. Other actions for the week include multiple angling without licenses, burning prohibited material, ATV violations, no life jacket for youth passenger under 10, and a variety of other bear baiting/WMA violations.
CO Nick Bruesewitz (Karlstad) patrolled the area during the week checking shore anglers and bear baits. CO Bruesewitz would like to remind individuals that it is unlawful to leave a game camera up overnight in wildlife management areas.
CO Brice Vollbrecht (Blackduck North) began field training a CO cadet this week. Time was spent focusing on boating and sport fishing activity. Enforcement action was taken on violations including angling without a license, displaying expired watercraft registration and insufficient PFDs. The weekend involved checking various bear baits in the area.
CO Brianna Shaw (Blackduck South) investigated nuisance black bear complaints. Additional time was spent inspecting bear baits to ensure they conform with regulations for the 2025 black bear season. Shaw checked several successful anglers and patrolled for recreational vehicle activity.
District 2 – Bemidji area

CO Jamus Veit (Bemidji #1) spent the week working an AIS detail with other COs on Leech Lake, monitoring ATV and angling activity, handling nuisance bear complaints, answering calls from the public, and assisting another agency. Time was also spent checking bear-bait stations.
CO Andrew Goodman (Perham) assisted with a Firearms Safety Field Day in Perham, responded to sick and injured eagle calls and answered questions about the newly released hunting regulations. Site visits and investigations into public waters, wetlands and aquatic plant removal were Goodman’s primary focus this week.
CO Jake Swedberg (Detroit Lakes) spent the week working ATV, fishing, and boating activity. CO Swedberg also assisted the county with calls for service, including some trespass and harassment complaints. Other time was spent following up on burning violations.
CO Jordan Anderson (Osage) began field training this week with COC Nathan Garza. Time was spent conducting sport fishing enforcement as well as patrolling state forest lands. Additionally, preparations were made for the upcoming bear season. Enforcement action for the week included angling without a license and various boating safety related warnings.
CO William Landmark (Moorhead) started field training with COC Corbus. The officers spent time focusing on angling and boat and water safety enforcement. Enforcement action was taken for an insufficient number of life jackets.
CO Angela Warren (Mahnomen) spent time on angling and boating activity. AIS compliance checks were performed. Patrol was conducted in WMA and WPA’s. Bear baiting activity was worked and regulation questions were answered and a call of a possible injured swan was handled.
CO Matthew Boyle (Pelican Rapids) spent time checking anglers on area lakes. The panfish bite has been consistently good, with reports of quality size bluegills being caught in 5-32 feet of water. Violations for the week included; bluegill over limits, take fish without a license and no type IV throwable onboard.
CO Brady Manteufel (Bagley) checked anglers and addressed calls about bears and other wildlife this week. Questions on licenses were also answered and public lands were checked for activity and bear baiting.
Bemidji #2 – vacant.
District 3 – Fergus Falls area

CO Tricia Plautz (Henning) worked with local government units on public waters and wetland violations this week. Calls were handled regarding random buoys on multiple lakes in the area and a report of a tame deer with a collar is being investigated. Reports of blue green algae appearing in several lakes were also received.
CO Ryan Brown (Elbow Lake) spent the week patrolling Grant and Otter Tail Counties. Boating and angling activity has slowed in the area. Public waters violations were investigated, and nuisance animal complaints were fielded.
CO Shane Osborne (Evansville) checked fishermen, ATV’s and boaters. APM and public waters violation investigations continue in the area. Several hunting related questions have been fielded during the past week.
CO Jake Homan (Alexandria) spent the week patrolling Douglas County for angling and recreational boating activities. Additional time was spent completing training in Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE). CO Homan finished off the week staffing the TIP trailer at the Douglas County Fair. Numerous contacts were made with individuals with questions about interpretations of laws and new regulations.
CO Felicia Znajda (Osakis) spent her week focusing on ATV, boating, and angling activity. Even though the bite has slowed down, hot days didn’t keep the boating activity away. She had an intern job shadowing this week along with spending time at the Douglas County Fair at the TIP booth. High activity at the fair with numerous wildlife and regulation questions answered.
CO Curtis Jepson (Wheaton) patrolled his station, focusing on ATV enforcement and shore fishing along the river. The officer attended multiple events this week, working the DNR booth at the Game Fair, and met with members from the Traverse County Sportsman Club. Anglers were also catching a fair number of different fish species, especially rough fish, on the river.
CO Emily Douvier (Morris) reports working fishing and recreational enforcement throughout the week. Enforcement action was taken for no fishing license in possession. Questions were answered regarding the upcoming fall hunting seasons.
CO Andrew Ladzinski (Glenwood) fielded questions regarding trespassing during upcoming hunting seasons. Time was spent on ATV enforcement in the Starbuck area.
District 4 – Walker area

CO Landyn Saewert (Wadena) spent most of the week monitoring area lakes. Two days were spent at the Fergus Falls Police Department attending ARIDE training. Enforcement action was taken for various fishing violations, operating a PWC within one hour before sunset and fail to be equipped with the proper number of personal flotation devices.
CO Patrick McGowan (Cass Lake) worked Leech, Winnibigoshish, and Cass lakes during the week. CO McGowan also started field training COC Kaitlyn Istvanovich. Enforcement action was taken for numerous fishing and boating violations during the week. The officers also assisted locating stranded individuals on Mud lake.
CO Jacque Johnson (Longville) investigated a trespassing complaint and took various animal related calls. Enforcement action taken on ATV helmet violations, transporting aquatic vegetation, fail to remove boat plug, permit violation, and other various ATV violations.
CO Levi Brown (Staples) spent time on the local lakes this week checking anglers. Enforcement action was taken for license issues. It still seems difficult for anglers to lock onto the Walleye’s. Brown also responded to a report of wolves killing cattle in the area.
