
(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks were looking to win another series against the Kansas City Monarchs tonight after taking game 1 last night. The Redhawks would have an excellent night swinging the bats.
The Redhawks would score 5 in the top of the 3rd inning, thanks to a Juan Fernandez RBI single, an 2-run double for Brendon Dadson, and then a 2-run home run by Lamar Sparks. Brendon Dadson would draw a bases loaded walk to make it 6-0 in the top of the 4th inning. Michael Hallquist would add to the scoring in the top of the 5th inning with a ground-rule double to make it 7-0. In the bottom of the 6th, Kansas City would get on the board however on a 3-run home run by Jorge Bonifacio to make it 7-3. Alec Olund would get a home run of his own, his being a solo shot in the top of the 7th to increase Fargo-Moorhead’s lead to 8-3. Kansas City would make it interesting in the bottom of the 7th, thanks to an Andres Noriega RBI single, and then a Jaylyn Williams 2-run home run. It would be 8-6 after that 7th inning. Juan Fernandez would make it 9-6 in the top of the 8th on an RBI single, and then Fargo-Moorhead was looking to put the game to bed in the top of the 9th. Aiden Byrne would lay down a safety squeeze that drove in a run, Juan Fernandez would plate a run on an RBI single, and Jose Sermo, and Brendon Dadson drew bases loaded walks. That would all be part of a 4 run 9th inning for Fargo-Moorhead. Juan Fernandez would go 4-6 and drive in 2 runs. Lamar Sparks, and Michael Hallquist, would both collect 3 hits, and Brendon Dadson would drive in 4 runs in the 13-6 win.
The winning pitcher was Tyler Jandron of Fargo-Moorhead, going 6 2/3 innings. The losing pitcher was Daniel Martinez of Kansas City, going 4 innings.
