FALCON HEIGHTS, MINN. (WCCO) – If you were fired up for the Steve Miller Band at the Minnesota State Fair grandstand this August, you can blame Mother Nature for canceling the show.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has announced he’s canceled all of his upcoming shows because it’s “not safe to tour Earth” right now. Yes, the “Fly Like an Eagle” and “Jet Airliner” hit-maker says the risk of natural disasters is making touring less safe for the band, the crew, and fans.
A social media post from the group says, “Always trust your instincts…The Steve Miller Band has cancelled all our upcoming tour dates.” It continues, “The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes, and massive forest fires makes these risks for you, our audience, the band, and the crew unacceptable. So…You can blame it on the weather… The tour is cancelled. Don’t know where, don’t know when… We hope to see you all again. Wishing you all Peace, Love, and Happiness, please take care of each other. Steve, The Band and Crew.”
The Thursday, August 28 show at the Minnesota State Fair is now listed as “canceled” on the fair’s website. They were going to perform with The Rascals, and so far, there’s no word on who will be a replacement for Miller, but they’re working on a new act.
