
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – Smoke from Canadian wildfires produced some of the worst fine particle pollution on record in Minnesota last weekend.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency released the top hourly fine particle readings from the air quality alert that ran from Friday to Sunday, with the worst reading at 404.9 in Detroit Lakes. That put it 5th on the all-time highest fine particle pollution levels from wildfire smoke ever recorded in Minnesota.
Other readings from over the weekend that made the top 20 since 2013 included 323.5 at Red Lake Nation, 303.7 at Leech Lake Nation and 285 in Fargo-Moorhead.
