(KNFL/KFGO) – After a 7-1 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes last night, the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks were looking to win the series this afternoon. Their offense was excellent last night, but today, would be a different story.
The Goldeyes would get an RBI groundout from Matthew Warkentin in the top of the 1st to start the scoring at 1-0. They would get home runs from Max Murphy in the top of the 4th, and then from Matthew Warkentin in the top of the 6th. That would make it a 3-0 lead for Winnipeg. Fargo-Moorhead would score in the bottom of the 7th on a sacrifice fly from Juan Fernandez, making it 3-1, but would give up another run in the top of the 9th, as Gustavo Sosa delivered on an RBI single. That would inevitably lead to a 4-1 final.
The Redhawks were held to 4 hits on 1 run today, despite drawing 4 walks total today. Despite a solid 4 inning performance from starting pitcher, Tasker Strobel, the Goldeyes got a lot of help from their bullpen, as the winning pitcher today was relief pitcher, Derrick Cherry. The losing pitcher was Kyle Crigger of Fargo-Moorhead. Despite the loss, he still had a solid outing, going 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs that were all earned, 1 walk, while striking out 4.
The series finale will be tomorrow afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field. 12:40 PM is the pregame show on AM 740 The FAN/107.3 FM.
