WEST FARGO (KFGO) — Warm weather has created some trouble for commuters as some area roads have buckled.
Roads buckle when the temperature is high enough to cause the pavement to expand. This is typically when temperatures are above 90º F for several days.
Roads are designed so they can expand and contract without causing issues. When concrete is exposed to high temperatures for an extended period, it can expand and push into other slabs. If the pressure is high enough, it can cause the road to buckle.
City crews have already repaired several spots in Fargo and West Fargo.
