City provides bottled water in Barnesville
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) — July 1st set a number of new laws into effect, including the “Free Water” law authored by DFL Representative Leigh Finke of St. Paul.
The bill requires ticketed events of over one hundred people to provide drinking water by offering free bottled water, allowing factory-sealed water bottles inside, and letting people bring empty water bottles to fill up.
Finke says it was a no-brainer.
“Tickets are more expensive, concessions are more expensive,” Finke says. “We need to have safe access to the events we enjoy, and water should never be a barrier.”
Finke says the only pushback at the Capitol was figuring out event requirements, as some events that involve indoor/cooled areas, lectures, museum-hosted events, and other events that already provide free water.
