DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KFGO) – Lawyers for Minnesota State Senator Nichole Mitchell have filed a motion to dismiss a second felony charge against her.
Mitchell’s attorneys are accusing the Becker County Attorney’s Office of prosecutorial vindictiveness for adding the second charge after her trial was delayed in January. Mitchell, a Democrat from Woodbury, is accused of breaking into her stepmother’s home in Detroit Lakes in April 2024 to retrieve property that belonged to her late father.
Her trial is set to begin June 16.
