FARGO (KFGO) – Three finalists have been named for the Fargo Fire Chief. They were selected from 15 applicants by a hiring committee.
The finalists are Fargo Fire Division Chiefs Tim Binfet and Craig Nelson, and Grand Forks Fire Chief Gary Lorenz.
Binfet is a 26-year veteran of the Fargo Fire Department. He is currently the Division Chief of Operations. Lorenz has been Grand Forks Fire Cheif since 2018. Before joining the Grand Forks Fire Department, Lorenz spent 28 years with the Fargo Fire Department. Nelson has been a firefighter since 2001, first with the Shakopee Fire Department before moving to Fargo.
A final decision will be made by the city commission.
Former Chief Steve Dirksen retired May 16.
