WILLISTON, N.D. (KFGO/Prairie Public) – A 36-year-old man has been taken into custody after he barricaded himself at the Fort Union Trading Post near Williston.
The incident began around 8 a.m. Tuesday, when the Williams County Sheriff’s Office was told a man was in the trading post who wasn’t supposed to be there. A school field trip was happening at the time. Highway 1804 in the area was closed.
The man was arrested. Charges are pending.
The Fort will remain closed Wednesday, as authorities investigate.
Fort Union is 25 miles southwest of Williston and 24 miles northeast of Sidney, Montana.
