(KNFL/KFGO) – The Minnesota Vikings continue to reconstruct their offensive line, as with the 24th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they select Donavan Jackson, a guard from Ohio State.
After selecting quarterback JJ McCarthy last year, as well as Sam Darnold signing with the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason, Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has made clear that he wants to improve the offensive line and protect his young quarterback in JJ McCarthy. Minnesota added center Ryan Kelly and guard Will Fries in free agency. Now, Minnesota adds a national champion to the offensive line.
While winning a national title with Ohio State, Donovan Jackson has also shown tremendous talent. He mainly plays guard, but is incredibly versatile, filling in for Josh Simmons at tackle after he suffered a season ending injury. Jackson started on the line for 40 games total with the Buckeyes and has shown excellent athleticism.
Christian Darrisaw is set to return to Minnesota, so the Vikings will have a ton of talent on their offensive line that includes Brian O’Neill at right tackle, and offseason additions in Kelly and Fries. After this first round selection, Minnesota may have added the missing piece on the line in Donovan Jackson.
