FARGO (KFGO) – A former West Fargo school principal is scheduled to plead guilty to federal child sexual abuse charges.
David George is expected to admit to taking a 10-year-old boy to South Dakota where he molested him in October 2022. He’s also expected to plead guilty to possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material between January of 2022 and August 2023 when he was arrested.
Court records accuse George of having over 600 images of child sexual abuse and distributing the material for financial gain. At least one of the children was around five years old.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office will recommend a sentence of 40 years because of the nature and pattern of abuse. George was originally charged in state court. Those charges were dropped after federal charges were filed.
A change of plea hearing is scheduled for May 28.
George was the principal at Independence Elementary and was with the school district for nearly 10 years. He resigned the day he was arrested.
George has been in the Sherburne County jail in Elk River, Minnesota since May of last year.
